What Is DMAE Bitartrate?

DMAE (2-dimethylaminoethanol) is a compound used in the body to make choline, which is needed for optimal production of acetylcholine, the main neurotransmitter involved in memory and learning. Choline is also needed to synthesize phosphatidylcholine, a phospholipid used to build and rejuvenate cell and mitochondrial membranes.

DMAE has demonstrated free radical scavenging activity, which may add to its ability to protect cell membrane integrity.
